Staff Spotlight

Ashley Garrity and Valerie Gavrila, winners of the 2018 CHEAR Community Award, are members of the CHEAR Service Committee. Their work furthers CHEAR’s outreach into the local community while uniting the busy faculty and staff of the center. CHEAR fosters a culture of support and caring, and, through Ashley and Valerie’s efforts, has provided numerous opportunities for profound local impact in the wonderful Ann Arbor community that CHEAR calls home.

Ashley coordinates pediatric diabetes research projects and quality improvement initiatives as part of the research team led by Dr. Joyce Lee. She holds a Master of Public Health degree in Health Behavior & Health Education from the University of Michigan. She enjoys working with a great team and making an impact on the lives of patients and families.

 


 

Valerie Gavrila

Valerie Gavrila

Research Area Specialist Associate

Valerie supports research relating to the detection, management, and improvement of pediatric diabetes as part of the research team led by Dr. Joyce Lee. She holds a Master of Public Health degree in Health Behavior & Health Education from the University of Michigan. Val enjoys Zumba, kickball, and baking.
