BiographyDr. Martyn’s work focuses on adolescent risk behavior assessment using event history calendar (EHC) methods and examination of effect on sexual risk behavior. Her current mixed methods research is focused on evaluation of the effect of EHC clinical assessment on sexually active adolescents’ risk perception, sexual risk behavior and intentions, and quality of communication with primary health care providers. Dr. Martyn is advancing innovative methods of adolescent risk behavior assessment and communication. Her work with adolescent self-administered EHCs has resulted in improvement in adolescent risk history recall and report, adolescent risk perception, and patient-provider communication; and has potential for reducing adolescent risk behavior.
