This page lists some of the many programs and initiatives led by CHEAR faculty.
- C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital National Poll on Children’s Health. Since 2007, CHEAR faculty have run the Mott Poll, a national survey of U.S. parents. The Mott Poll aims to shape the national discourse on child health by ensuring representation of parents’ perspectives, as well as to influence child health policy and generate new ideas for research.
- Michigan Sickle Cell Data Collection (MiSCDC) program. MiSCDC is a CDC-funded program that collects health information about people in Michigan with sickle cell disease. This information helps assess trends in diagnosis, treatment, and access to health care.
- Program for Equity in Adolescent and Child Health (PEACH). PEACH addresses unconscious biases of the health care system by implementing protocols and structural changes to achieve quality care for all children, focusing on systems rather than individuals.
- Michigan Child Health Improvement Collaborative (MI-CHEC) and Michigan Community Hospitals Improving Equity for Children (MI-CHIME). Mi-CHEC is a collaboration of the three largest children’s hospitals in Michigan, while MI-CHIME is a collaboration between the University of Michigan and three community hospitals in Michigan. These collaboratives measure differences in the quality of care among participating hospitals, launch quality improvement efforts to address detected health inequities, and continuously evaluate the effectiveness of those interventions.
- Pediatric Sickle Cell Improvement Program (P-SCIP). P-SCIP is a state-funded quality improvement program that incentivizes Michigan Medicaid health plans to improve performance on three preventive care measures for children with sickle cell anemia.
